Hungry Root Week 3
Another week, another review. This week was a bit harder to get through since my mom was in town, so I didn’t cook much until after she left. But here’s my review of what I got in this week’s Hungry Root box.
Breakfast
Purely Elizabeth Original Superfood Oatmeal – I decided to turn this into overnight oats. I think it had potential, but I added Greek yogurt and it threw off the flavor. It ended up tasting like cookie dough that had gone bad. I might try it again without the yogurt.
Abe's Chocolate Chip Mini Muffins – I was pleasantly surprised by these! They were delicious despite being free from dairy, nuts, eggs, soy, and sesame.
Nancy’s Organic Lowfat Peach Kefir – Drinking this on its own was a bit much, but blended with frozen mango chunks and my Bloom greens, it was much better.
Clara’s Kitchen Chile Verde Breakfast Burrito – Pretty solid for a breakfast burrito. I wasn’t a fan of the whole peppers, but everything else worked well.

Lunch & Dinners
Creamy Southwestern Pork Wrap – Since I didn’t eat this during the week like I usually do, the bagged salad it came with went bad. I had tried the same salad last week, so I knew what I was missing. The pork, however, was surprisingly good.
Bacon Cheeseburger with Baked Sweet Potato – Even though I’m not the biggest fan of bacon cheeseburgers, this one was great. I turned the sweet potatoes into a candied yam-style side, and it worked perfectly. The meal came with Havarti cheese, but I swapped it out for classic American slices—no regrets.
Alfredo Egg Pasta with Broccoli – This came with one bag of broccoli florets, but I had half a bag left over from the previous week, so I added both during the last 3 minutes of cooking. Tossed it all with the sauce and served it with a baguette and the Isigny Ste-Mère Cultured Herb Butter for some homemade garlic bread. 10/10 would order again.
Overall, even with a slow start to the week, I was really happy with the meals I got to try!
